Associate Professor in Structural Engineering (ICAR/09) – DIA, UniPR

Patrizia Bernardi graduated in civil engineering and obtained the title of Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the University of Pisa in 2003. She then worked as a University Researcher (2007-2020) and has been an Associate Professor in Structural Engineering at the Department of Engineering and Architecture, University of Parma, since 2020. Since 2024, she is the departmental delegate for Quality in Teaching, Research, and Third Mission for the Director.

Since 2003, she has been teaching various courses at the University of Parma in the Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree programs in Civil Engineering and Architecture.

She is the author of over 110 scientific publications, with main research topics including the development of non-linear constitutive laws for the analysis of reinforced concrete structures, FEM modeling of reinforced concrete and/or fiber-reinforced elements and prefabricated structures, seismic risk mapping of road infrastructure through fragility curve construction; experimental evaluation of mechanical properties and durability of cementitious materials containing waste products as additions or partial replacements of cement or aggregates (among others: biochar, recycled plastic, vitrified MSW ashes, vitrified beads, composite synthetic material waste, ceramic materials, construction and demolition waste); study of the steel-concrete bond of eco-concretes, and experimental evaluation of the effects of steel fibers in concrete.

She has been and is currently scientific coordinator or member in numerous research projects or agreements between DIA and public/private entities on the development of sustainable cementitious materials incorporating waste.

She is a member of the working group: fib SAG – Special Activity Group: Sustainability, TG.SAG.2 – Sustainable Concrete Structures.
