Research Fellow on the CIRCOMP project, Administrative Law (IUS/10)

Nicola Granato obtained his Master’s Degree in Law in December 2018 from Roma Tre University in Environmental Law. In 2019, he started his Ph.D. at the Department of Political Sciences, Sapienza University of Rome, in European Administrative Environmental Law, with a research thesis entitled “Extended Producer Responsibility. An Environmental Policy Strategy.” During his doctoral experience, he organized and participated in Prof. Maria Vittoria Ferroni’s lecture series on Biodiversity, Climate and Climate Change, and Circular Economy, and coordinated the seminars “The Informal City” (2020), “Animal and Biodiversity Protection” (2021), and the exam course “Health Law” (2022). In September 2023, he became a Research Fellow in Administrative Law with the project “The Construction Site of the Circular Economy. Principles, Rules, and Models” at the University of Parma, Department of Engineering and Architecture. In February 2024, he won a second research fellowship at the same department for research on “Industrial Benefits of the Circular Economy: Reusing Production Waste for Innovative Material Production.”

He is currently a member of the Permanent Observatory for Legality and participates in Prof. Monica Cocconi’s teaching activities, particularly with integrative seminars in the “Environmental Law and Water Protection” course. His primary research topics include the circular economy model; sub-products and authorization procedures related to End-of-Waste (EoW), and the principle of extended producer responsibility, which he has been studying for several years. Adjacent research fields include eco-design, circular packaging, economic instruments for environmental protection, GPP, biodiversity protection, climate, PES, and environmental crime.
